The role
As a Trading Operations Engineer at Sparkland's Dubai office, you’ll be at the core of our high-frequency trading systems, ensuring seamless operation and optimizing low-latency performance. You’ll work closely with traders and developers to automate workflows and tackle complex challenges. This role offers the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technology, grow professionally, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where collaboration and problem-solving under pressure are key. The role requires working in shifts (16-hour coverage, 7 days a week) and participating in an on-call rotation to ensure the continuous operation of our trading infrastructure.
Responsibilities

Ability to lead the team in the future

Monitor and manage the real-time operation of high-frequency trading systems.

Troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate system issues as needed to maintain high availability.

Analyze system performance metrics (e.g., latency) using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or equivalent solutions.

Collaborate with software engineers, traders, and infrastructure teams to improve system reliability and efficiency.

Automate processes and manage deployments with A/B testing to enhance operational workflows.

Manage configurations using tools like Ansible and support CI/CD pipelines.

Contribute to system documentation and provide feedback on process improvements.

Participate in an on-call rotation to handle critical incidents outside regular hours.

Show initiative in identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

8-10 years of IT or software engineering experience.

Experience in high-frequency trading or other latency-sensitive distributed systems.

Strong knowledge of Python scripting for automation and tooling.

Proficiency with Linux systems, including shell scripting and networking tools tools.

Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, ElasticSearch, or ClickHouse.

Experience with AWS cloud services.

Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible and CI/CD systems.
Bonus Points

Familiarity with incident management frameworks and best practices.

Exposure to containerization and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

Knowledge of distributed databases (e.g., ClickHouse).
